Bavaria Sets Sail with Mastervolt

Bavaria Yachts Australia has joined forces with Mastervolt as its supplier of Power Electronics on all of their yachts bought into Australia.
Bob Mulkearns, Managing Director of Bavaria Yachts Australia, has selected Mastervolt products as the ideal solution for power management equipment on Bavaria Yachts.
In consultation with his electrical contractor Paul Magee from Boatworks, and with assistance from Mastervolt’s Business Development Manager Andrew Wilson, the decision was made to sign with Mastervolt, the premium brand of equipment in this field.
“Building over 3,000 yachts per year, Bavaria has developed a line of yachts that stand out for their solid and lasting value. Power Protection Wins Reader’s Choice Award

The Quest Newspapers Business Achiever Awards for 2007 were held in December to announce the top performing business within their North Brisbane region. Power Protection Solutions were awarded the top honor in the Reader’s Choice category for their business achievements within the local community.
Hybrid Energy….Spectra International Sales Dealer of the Year 2007 - [December 2007]
Hybrid Energy in its first full year of distributing the Spectra brand of watermakers has been honored with Spectra’s 2007 International Sales Dealer of the Year.
This recognition was a complete surprise to the Hybrid Energy team and a very welcome acknowledgment of all the hard work done in 2007.

Mastervolt secures three year supply agreement with the Ferretti Group - [November 2007]
At the METS 2007 International Trade Show for the marine leisure industry in Amsterdam, Mastervolt has signed a three year worldwide agreement with the Ferretti Group to equip its luxury motor yachts and sporting boats with power electronics. Furthermore, both companies agreed to jointly commit resources to the development of new products.

Spectra Release the Ventura 200T - [November 2007]
Spectra’s smallest and easiest to operate watermaker the Venture 150 has just introduced its big brother….The Ventura 200T.
The Venture 200T was born from all of the success of the 150 but with tropical waters in mind. The 200T has been designed to work in water temperatures above 10°C.
It is energy efficient, light weight, and self regulating. The 200T is a very affordable compact watermaker with all the great features Spectra has become known for. The Ventura 200T series is easy to install and use, quiet, very energy efficient with a maximum DC power draw of only 10amps, and delivering up to 30 litres of fresh product water per hour (720L per Day).
There are two models available the manual “Deluxe” version, and the fully automatic “MPC” a simple one button operation, the most advanced watermaker control available!
Nuna 4 & Mastervolt: Success combination once more! - [October 2007]
At this year’s Panasonic World Solar Challenge, the world’s toughest race for solar-powered vehicles, Mastervolt equipped the winners of the race! The Nuon Solar Team with Nuna 4.
The Dutch Technical University of Delft achieved their fourth consecutive victory with their Nuna 4; At 16:54:00 local time in South Australia, Nuna 4 crossed the time finish line, crossing the Australian continent in 4 days at an average speed of around 91 km/hr.
The Panasonic World Solar Challenge, in which 61 teams from 20 countries competed, went over a distance of 3,000 km from Darwin on the north coast of Australia, right across the continent, to Adelaide in the south.
This year’s vehicle was equipped with components and technology from the aeronautics industry and Formula 1 racing.
Mastervolt sponsored the Nuon Solar Team with a complete system for the provision of a mobile electrical supply to the escort vehicle ‘Mission Control’.
From the escort vehicle ‘Mission Control’, the team not only had continual voice communication with Nuna4’s driver: more importantly, there was also constant transmission of data between the solar vehicle and the mobile control centre, via WLAN.
In the ‘Mission Control’ data, such as the energy generated by the car’s solar cells, wind speed, sun light intensity and weather forecasts were continually stored, analysed and used to determine for instance the ideal speed in terms of energy use.
The on-board electricity supply of the mobile control centre is made up of the following Mastervolt systems:

AC Master: next generation of inverters - [October 07]
Mastervolt announces the launch of the AC Master, a new generation of switch mode sine wave inverters for 200-350 Watt power requirements.
Offering an industry-leading price/performance ratio to recreational and semi-professional users, the AC Master is equally at home in the marine, mobile and solar power markets. Benefits include its compact and lightweight size, silent operation, pure sine wave output and impressive 200% surge power.
While the use of standard 230 AC and 120 AC appliances continues to grow rapidly, this trend has not been matched by the availability of affordable sine wave inverters that offer a genuinely smooth operation. The new AC Master models are Mastervolt’s response, providing an extension to the company’s popular Mass inverters. The application of advanced switch mode technology offers significant savings in weight. Distortion of the pure sine wave is virtually negligible, resulting in an extremely smooth sine wave output voltage.
 The surge power of 200% offered by the AC Master is more than sufficient to start up inductive loads with high peak powers. The inverters have an efficiency of around 90%, with a no-load of 0.8A at stand by mode.
The AC Master optimises the rice/performance ratio in other ways too. As is customary with Mastervolt products, the attractive design provides aesthetic flair in addition to superb functionality. All electric components are perfectly shielded and the units can be used in the harshest conditions. The plug and play AC Master is simple and safe to install, with clear signalling and a socket on the front to plug in the various appliances. The AC range will be extended in 2008 with 700 and 1200 Watt models.

 Mastervolt’s range of battery chargers for the marine market is strengthened with the introduction of our brand new generation of chargers the ”ChargeMaster Range” to complement the existing IVO and Mass ranges. The range consists of six robust and reliable chargers, especially developed for all battery systems onboard medium-sized yachts. These compact chargers can charge three battery sets simultaneously with a charge efficiency of over 90%. The design allows quick and easy installation of the chargers via secure connections. A large, clear LCD display provides information on the charge current, charge voltage and charge phase for all three battery sets.
The ChargeMaster provides boat builders and installers with a charger suitable for every system, and one which is also ready for the monitoring systems of the future. The sophisticated design is thought through, down to the smallest details ‘captive fixing’ screws for the electrical connections prevent the possibility of fixings lost into the bilge. The electrical connection box is designed to ensure quick and safe installation.
The ChargeMaster functions anywhere and anytime, is easy to connect to shore or generator power. Autoranging guarantees batteries will be charged between 90V and 265V and 50 and 60Hz inputs. 3-Stage Plus technology ensures a reliable and complete charge. Monitoring and control is made easy by the brightly-lit LCD display and MasterBus connection. Batteries are charged fully and safely, resulting in longer battery life.
The ChargeMaster range consists of two 12V chargers (70 and 100A) and four 24V chargers (40, 60, 80, 100A). The range will be extended in 2008 with battery chargers for smaller motor and sailing yachts. Each ChargeMaster is supplied with a free temperature sensor for the main battery.
The worldwide Mastervolt service network is available in over 60 countries for maintenance, service and support.
ChargeMaster Features
The ChargeMaster offers: Six models:12/70A and 12/100A. 24/40A, 24/60A, 24/80A, 24/100A.
· Three DC outlets optimally sized to charge three battery sets simultaneously via a combination of one larger (40 to 100A) and two smaller connections rated to 10A.
· The ChargeMaster provides the right current dosage for each connected battery bank and is optimally protected from battery overload via, among other things, the temperature sensor Mastervolt provides with each charger.
· The connections are robust and well protected from the electronics. Direct metal-to-metal contacts improve the charging process and prevent corrosion and overheating.
· The 3-Stage Plus charge method developed by Mastervolt ensures a complete charge of all connected batteries under all conditions.
· Autoranging guarantees batteries can be charged anywhere and anytime as long as voltage is available. The charger can accept AC voltage inputs of 90 to 265V and in frequencies of both 50 and 60Hz. Yachts can be plugged into the available voltage in any harbour.
· Combinations with almost all generators are possible for AC power supply. The latest technologies and Cos Phi 1 regulation ensure extremely high efficiency. Intelligent electronic controls make it impossible to overheat and damage generators.
· Charge efficiency is over 90% due to the high frequency technology. This also ensures a quiet charge without the annoying hum produced by transformers.
· Monitoring and control is easy and ready for the future. A brightly-lit LCD display with three-button controls ensures ease of operation. Users can use the selection button to see charge current, charge voltage and charge phase of all battery sets..
· The MasterBus function provides many options for remote control and monitoring.
. The compact ChargeMaster cabinet is designed for easy installation in every possible location. The ChargeMaster only has a volume of 5.2 litre/kW, which is the smallest on the market. It can be installed anywhere onboard: On flat surfaces, below deck or vertically on a bulkhead with the supplied mounting bracket.
· The ChargeMaster is easy to connect and install. The design is provided with ‘captive fixing screws’ which are secured in the design and cannot fall off into the bilge..
· The connection of the power cable is very secure as the AC/DC connections are installed separately on well-isolated connection points, and not directly on the PCB.
The intelligent location of the connection points of the design allows the unit to be compact, ensuring minimum installation space is needed for the cables. Both the battery and AC connection cables can be easily concealed due to the integration of the connection points inside and beneath the cabinet
Mastervolt Secures Maritimo Contract [October 07]
Mastervolt Australia has secured the OEM contract to supply Maritimo, designers & builders of luxury long range cruisers all of its requirements for inverter/chargers on their entire range. This includes the 48, 52, 60 & the new 550 Offshore Convertible. All models over 52ft have 2 x Combi’s fitted in parallel as standard.

The Toyama brand of Hybrid Gel batteries is now available in Australia through Hybrid Energy. These batteries are valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries with a crossbreed of GEL and AGM technologies blended together. Aimed directly at the marine, recreational vehicle and solar market this technology provides better service life, especially deep cycle life and high rates of discharge compared to standard AGM batteries.
